Thank you for attending online on Saturday, October 23rd as we celebrated 46 years of WAESOL.

We are pleased to feature two outstanding keynotes for this year’s conference. Our opening keynote will be Dr. Suhanthie Motha, Director of the MATESOL Program in the English Department at the University of Washington. Dr. Motha is the author of Race, Empire, and English Language Teaching, which won the American Educational Studies Association (AESA) Critics’ Choice Book Award and the Comparative and International Education Society’s (CIES) Globalization and Education SIG’s Book Award. Then join us at 1:00 with Sarah Peterson, MSW, Office of Refugee & Immigrant Assistance. Sarah Peterson is the Washington State Refugee Coordinator and oversees the Washington Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance (ORIA). In 2018, Sarah received the Governor’s Award for Leadership in Management and in 2019, received recognition from the Islamic Center of Tri-Cities for her support for refugee resettlement.
