Amplifying Learning Opportunities for Multilingual Learners Across the Lifespan: Broadening Our Lenses

George C. Bunch is Professor of Education and former Department Chair at the University of California, Santa Cruz. An experienced K-12 teacher, adult ESL instructor, and teacher educator, he holds a PhD in educational linguistics from Stanford University and a MA in bilingual education and TESOL from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. His research focuses on curricula, policies, and teacher preparation initiatives designed to serve multilingual learners in primary and secondary schools, adult ESL, and higher education. He is a former National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellow and co-author, with Aída Walqui, of Amplifying the Curriculum: Designing Quality Learning Opportunities for Multilingual Learners (2nd Edition, Teachers College Press, 2025).
