Brief Descriptions
Consider becoming a WAESOL Board Member to join a committee in 2019-2020.
Publication Committee
This committee is responsible for receiving and editing stories and research papers for publication in WAESOL Educator. The committee members have a strong command of electronic communication skills, an ability to edit/revise documents in a constructive way, and an interest (or knowledge) in learning about design and layout tools (Word, Publisher).
Clock Hours Committee
This committee is responsible for overseeing WAESOL’s k-12 clock hours system. The clock hour committee ensures that policies are followed and documentation is maintained according to WA state requirements. Committee members ensure that the clock hour webpage and payment system is updated for each event and that conference attendees have a positive and professional experience in attaining their clock hours.
Grants and Awards Committee
This committee is responsible for receiving and reviewing applications, selecting and notifying recipients, and announcing the winners. The committee also is responsible for maintaining the Grants and Awards webpage, securing funds, and promoting these funding opportunities (social media and direct communication).
Publishers’ Liaison Committee
This committee is responsible for maintaining contact with publishers and community members who would like to exhibit, advertise, or otherwise help sponsor the WAESOL conference. Committee members are responsible for working with potential exhibitors, and for providing support to exhibitors during the conference.
Social Media Committee
This committee is responsible for promoting opportunities via social media with the community at large.
Nominations & Elections Committee
This committee of two to three members is appointed by the President with the approval of the Board for the purpose of soliciting nominations and coordinating elections to the Board of Directors. The President-Elect serves as the chair of this committee.
