Director of Academic Programs
Study Group is accepting applications for the
Director of Academic Programs for our offerings on
the campus of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma,
WA. The Director of Academic Programs will be
responsible for the overall academic management and
delivery of our International Study Center
Transition Program and our Embassy academic
programs. As a senior member of staff,
responsibilities include working with PLU
faculty/staff and Study Group staff to monitor and
refine Transition Program offerings and outcomes.
The Director will all supervise teachers, including
hiring, training and ongoing development, as well as
teach up to ten hours a week of university
preparation courses. Qualified applicants should

Course Development and Teacher Educator
The
School of Teaching English as a Second Language has
a job opening for a Course Development and Teacher
Educator, for a course on "Teaching Business
English."
Requirements:
M.A.
TESOL or M.A. in a closely-related field with TESOL
specific training.
Extensive
ESOL teaching (minimum 5 years) to adults in various
settings, particularly recent experience teaching
Business English in the U.S. and/or overseas.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience leading staff development, workshop
presentations and/or teacher education.
Job
Description:
1. Course Development: Create a new three-credit
class in the S-TESL TESOL Certificate program.
Course development will be supervised by the S-TESL
Director. The instructor will receive a stipend for
course development. Ideally, the course development
will be completed by Winter Quarter 2009. Course
development includes textbook selection, syllabus
creation and creation of major assignments and
rubrics for assessment.
2. Course Instructor: Depending on instructor and
classroom availability, the course will be offered
in the evening sometime in Spring/Summer 2009.
Evening classes are held weekly for nine weeks.
Total classroom contact time is approximately 27
hours.
3. Future course development for the online format
and teaching the course online are possible.
The S-TESL
TESOL classes consist of students who are working on
master's degrees at Seattle University, public
school teachers working towards an endorsement in
ELL, teachers in community-based ESOL classes
locally, and people interested in working overseas.
All classes are post-baccalaureate level.

Acting Executive Director (14 mos.)
TESL Canada is advertising for the position of
Acting Executive Director for a 14 month maternity
leave coverage beginning on December 1, 2008 and
ending on January 31, 2010. The salary range is
$47,000-$50,000 per annum depending on
qualifications and experience. The head office of
TESL Canada is located in Burnaby, BC. The Acting
Executive Director is responsible to a National
Board of Directors and works closely with the
President in all matters.
The position requires:
• Management skills in the not-for-profit sector,
including supervisory experience working with office
personnel and contract personnel;
• Financial management and budgeting skills;
• Fundraising and grant writing experience;
• Experience working with a volunteer board
of directors, committees and like-minded
organizations;
• Experience in event and conference
planning;
• Some travel is involved.
The applicant must also be self-motivated,
demonstrate administration and computer skills, be
able to work independently and interact with
provincial counterparts. Knowledge of the TESL/TEFL
or settlement sector would be a definite asset.

ESL Instructor
Cartus Global Performance Solutions is currently
hiring qualified ESL instructors to work with
students on a part-time, contract basis. Students
take between 10-40 total hours of lessons, and
lessons are generally one-on-one. Lesson topics can
include every day language, idioms, business
English, pronunciation, accent modification,
grammar, conversation, and others. Lesson programs
are custom designed by the trainer for each
individual student, and an allowance is provided for
the purchase of materials.
