Grants & Awards: Tailor Made Development
Grant
WAESOL recognizes not everyone can make it to the
annual conference. Therefore, we would like to bring
the conference to you by offering a Tailor Made
Professional Development Grant, which is modeled
after a similar grant offered by TESOL.
The TMPD Grant for $150 is designed to meet specific
professional development needs within Washington
State in places where the need cannot be met locally
due to lack of expertise or financial reasons. For
example, a school or organization can request funds
for an outside speaker to travel to their school. A
school could also request funds to implement an
inservice workshop on a topic relevant to a local
group of teachers.
To apply for a TMPD Grant, answer the following in
one to two pages:
1. Explain the specific need for professional
development.
2. How would this need be addressed? Be as specific
as you can about the type of program (e.g.,
workshop, speaker, action research project).
3. Where would the program be held?
4. When would the program be held?
5. Describe the participants and how many you expect
to attend.
Applications for the TMPD Grant will be taken on a
year-round basis and evaluated as they arrive. There
is no formal deadline. E-mail Elena Smith at
essmith@wsu.edu
to apply. The application can be e-mailed in the
body of the message. Please do NOT send an
attachment.
